It is not as good as the memorizing and intriguing book - but the movie is compelling in it's own right and the cast is perfect!

Jeez, what are you talking about?! Why don't you read more and learn how to feel and see deeply without visual aids? You don't know how to use your mind, your imagination. I'm sure you are a child of the computer generation.

Could it be ANYWHERE NEAR as good as the book? The book is one of the most beautiful things I have ever read.

I am always captivated by this film. It's such a pity that it is so hard to come by a physical copy of the film. It is without a doubt great.

I dont know if you already know but Virginias book Orlando was written as a biography, It is actually a love between two women, and virginia had an affair with one of them and thats why she wrote a book..the names of women are Vita Sackville West-a femminist writer and Violet Trefusis- a novelist.google it up..the book was banned because of homosexuality thats why Virginia wrote it like this..Beautiful

The film is beautiful and beautifully made, but I read the book afterwards and found it a bit frustrating and pointless. It does not seem to say anything or go anywhere. There's only the novelty of someone living through centuries without aging, and changing sex at one stage. Maybe I there's something I've misssed but I did not see any more to it.

I read this book for my 2nd year english course, and as such, can appreciate the artistic merits of the writing, etc, as well as the casting of the film (e.g. a man plays the Queen) but this book was still just a biiig WTF for me. Can't say I enjoyed it, although I appreciate the cultural and artistic importance of it. |
