split silk thread
To make finer silk embroidery works, the embroidery artists split one full silk thread to 24 much thinner silk threads. The thinnest and finest is 1/24 of the full silk thread. That is very thin, almost invisible to naked eyes. A high quality silk embroidery work may use silk threads 1/8, 1/12, 1/16, 1/20 and 1/24. It's a very time consuming work and requires high skills. This video shows the embroidery artist splitting the silk threads before she makes the embroidery painting.
